I graduated from St. Edward's University with a B.A. in Anthropology and an M.A. in Counseling with a dual emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Counseling. In addition, I am a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and AcuDetox Specialist. For more information about the benefits of AcuDetox, please click here for an article from NADA.
Treatment philosophy :
My counseling style is warm, empathetic, integrative, pragmatic and client-based. I believe that a therapeutic relationship should be a collaborative one in which my clients and I work together to discover creative strategies, solutions and, at times, even humorous insight to help them learn new way to cope with challenges and struggles.
I have experience counseling adults, families and couples coping with grief, trauma, addiction, existentialism, LGBTQ concerns, sexuality and recovery. I look forward to explore these areas and more with clients.
My work draws its influence from the counseling theories and styles of Carl Rogers, Virginia Satir and Murray Bowen.
I currently work part time as a counselor with the men's intensive residential programs at Austin Recovery. In addition, I have a small private practice in Westlake providing counseling to adult clients with issues related to chemical dependency. I am currently not accepting new clients as I plan to devote this year to self-care and professional development. However, I am in the process of forming two Acudetox groups, one for clients and one for mental health professionals.
If you feel that you would benefit from Acudetox, please contact me with questions or to sign up for a group.
